We received this update from 34th State Senate District candidate Tom Umberg today:
What a long journey this has been. As of today, we lead our opponent by a margin of 2,802 votes.
Although there are still a few votes to count — your support put us over the top. In short, WE WON!
On Monday December 3, 2018, in the Senate Chamber, I will have the honor of taking the oath of office and being sworn in as the next State Senator from the 34th District. Later that day, my team and I will have a reception in our new Capitol office and I would be honored if you could join us. Please let us know if you are able to attend by replying to this email.
We plan to have a ceremony and celebration in Santa Ana in the weeks ahead as well.
I am honored and humbled by the trust put in me by the voters of the 34th Senate District to represent them in the State Senate. I’m looking forward to getting to work and delivering for our community.
In our opinion State Senator Janet Nguyen got what she had coming to her. She backstabbed OC Supervisor Andrew Do two years ago, helping his Democratic opponent, Santa Ana Councilwoman Michele Martinez. Do hung on and won his seat. Now he along with new 72nd District Assemblyman Tyler Diep and OC Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen will lead Orange County’s Vietnamese American community.
Nguyen, in our opinion, will be unemployable. She has burned so many bridges. We cannot imagine anyone will want anything to do with her.
