Andrew Do, was reelected to represent Orange County’s First Supervisorial District in the November General Election although his former boss, State Senator Janet Nguyen, stabbed him in the back. Nguyen opposed Do’s reelection. This was highly unusual as the OC GOP usually will have a cow if their members refuse to back each other.
Now Nguyen has to be looking behind her shoulder as Do handily beat his opponent, Santa Ana City Councilwoman Michele Martinez.
One has to wonder what sort of revenge Do will seek in two years when Nguyen’s State Senate seat comes up for releection. Will Do challenge Nguyen? He will have a safe run at her as his Supervisorial term will be only half over in 2018.
Do could challenge Nguyen and even if he lost he would compel her to have to raise money and defend her seat. Or he could back someone else to run against her.
Do will also be seeking revenge against Garden Grove Mayor Phat Bui, who ran against Do this year. Bui also filed a complaint with the FPPC regarding Do’s mailers.
I think Nguyen and Bui better prepare themselves. Do’s not going to let them get away with undermining his campaign this year. He still has a lot of influence in Little Saigon. The bad blood that Nguyen and Bui stirred up is going to splash back at both of them – big time!
