Garden Grove Firefighters Endorse Rickk Montoya For Garden Grove City Council District 6
Garden Grove, CA The Garden Grove Firefighters, IAFF Local 2005 announced their endorsement of Rickk Montoya today for Garden Grove City Council District 6.
“I am honored to receive this endorsement from our Garden Grove Firefighters,” Montoya said. “I have been a longtime advocate for increased public safety and I’m a strong believer in ensuring our fire department has all the necessary resources in order to protect and support our community. These brave men and women put their lives on the line everyday. They are an integral part of our city, and the safety of our city is my top priority.”
The Garden Grove Fire Department was established in 1926, and is a full-service fire department. They serve a community of over 170,000 people and 5,000 businesses that include industrial facilities, high-rise structures, a hospital and medical center, and the Christ Cathedral year round. Service is provided out of seven fire stations located throughout Garden Grove and is led by Fire Chief Tom Schultz. The Garden Grove Fire Department, IAFF Local 2005 employs 92 sworn firefighters.
This crucial endorsement follows other major endorsements including the Orange County Labor Federation, the Democratic Party of Orange County, and Garden Grove School District Trustee Teri Rocco.
Rickk Montoya was raised in the same East Garden Grove community where he and his wife currently own a home and raise their children. He attended Woodbury Elementary, Doig Intermediate, and graduated from Santiago High School. He also spent over 10 years serving in the United States Army. He currently works as a 911 Dispatcher with the Los Angeles Police Department. Rickk also serves the City of Garden Grove as the Chair of the Parks, Recreation & Arts Commission.
