Kim Issues Statement on Democrats’ Transportation Plan
SACRAMENTO – Assemblywoman Young Kim (R-Fullerton) today issued the following statement regarding the Democrats’ transportation plan that increases taxes on Californians by $6 billion:
“Californians pay some of the highest gas taxes in the nation, but some in Sacramento want you to pay almost 25 cents more per gallon. Raising gas taxes will hurt working Californians who cannot afford to pay more in taxes. This is a terrible idea that will hurt middle class families across the state, and I am strongly opposed.
“We have the money to spend on road repairs, but every year politicians neglect our roads and highways by raiding transportation funds to pay for their misguided priorities. This fiscal mismanagement needs to stop.
“That’s why my Republican colleagues and I introduced a transportation plan over a year ago that would generate $6.6 billion in annual funding for transportation infrastructure without raising taxes by a single dime. I call on Democrats to make transportation funding the priority it should be by abandoning their middle class tax grab and bringing our plan up for a vote.”
Assemblywoman Young Kim, R-Fullerton, represents the 65th Assembly District, which includes the communities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Cypress, Fullerton, La Palma, and Stanton.
