Last week, The Sierra Club announced its endorsement of Bao Nguyen for California’s 46th Congressional seat.
Here’s what they have to say about Bao:
“We are very pleased to announce today that the Sierra Club officially endorses Bao Nguyen for
election to the U.S. House of Representatives in Congressional District 46,” said Sharon Koch, Angeles Chapter Chair.
“We are confident that he will work to protect California families’ health, air and water, and build a clean energy economy that works for California.”
“We are deeply grateful to Mr. Nguyen for fighting to maintain local control of our water resources, going against the big corporate interests trying to charge county residents more for less water while destroying our environment,” said Carole Mintzer, member of Sierra Club’s Orange County Political Committee.
“He is a true environmental champion who will fight to protect California’s clean air, clean water, climate and natural treasures.”
Along with the endorsement, the Sierra Club will lend its volunteer strength to Mr. Nguyen’s campaign.
“We pledge to do all we can to help ensure Bao Nguyen is elected,” said Ms. Mintzer. “Scores of Sierra Club volunteers will contact voters on his behalf and we will speak to the public as often as possible about his exemplary environmental record. We look forward to a victory for Bao Nguyen on election night and to Bao Nguyen fighting for the environment as a U.S. Representative.”
The Sierra Club knows that Bao is the only candidate in this race that will fight for a sustainable future. There is a clear difference between Bao and his opponent on environmental issues. Our opponent has taken thousands of dollars in donations from big oil and he has voted to continue fracking – Bao knows that we can’t continue on the path of using unsustainable fossil fuel if we want to prevent total climate disaster.
