Senator Huff Issues Statement Following Positive Fiscal Outlook from the Legislative Analyst
SACRAMENTO: Senator Bob Huff (R-San Dimas) issued the following statement after the non-partisan Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO) released its fiscal outlook for California’s upcoming 2016-2017 budget.
“Ending the current fiscal year with a healthy reserve of $11.5 billion is welcome news,” said Senator Huff. “I would urge the Governor and legislators to ignore pent-up demands and instead invest this one-time money into areas not covered by last year’s budget such as investing in our well-documented transportation infrastructure needs or addressing the problems caused at the local level by the Governor’s early prison release program.”
“The LAO forecast also proves that California does not need additional tax burdens placed on families and provides welcome substance to the argument that the temporary sales and income tax hikes that California voters approved under Proposition 30 should be allowed to expire and not extended,” Senator Huff concluded.
