REP. LORETTA SANCHEZ STATEMENT ON TERRORIST ATTACKS IN PARIS, BEIRUT, AND BAGHDAD
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-46), senior member of the House Homeland Security Committee, released the following statement regarding the recent terrorist attacks on Paris, Beirut, and Baghdad, as well as the death of a California State University, Long Beach student, Nohemi Gonzalez, in the Paris attacks:
“Last week’s horrifying terrorist attacks in Paris, Beirut, and Baghdad deeply affect us, even when they occur across the world. I mourn the loss of all the victims and I am shaken to my core by these senseless tragedies and acts of terrorism.
“A young California college student, Nohemi Gonzalez, was killed in the harrowing attacks in Paris on Friday. Nohemi had a bright future ahead of her and this loss is heartbreaking. I share my grief and stand in solidarity with Nohemi’s family, friends, and the California State University, Long Beach community.
“When violence across the world hits close to home, it provides an opportunity to reflect upon the devastating impacts that violence and terrorism have on all of us and to pursue compassion and understanding. We must examine the roots and cyclical dynamics of violence and terrorism around the globe to fight the increasing instability that damages us all.”
