Senator Huff Earns Top Marks for Defending Taxpayers
CA Taxpayers Association Awards Huff the Top Score for 2015 Voting Record
SACRAMENTO: California’s oldest watchdog organization on tax and other public finance issues has awarded Senator Bob Huff (R-San Dimas) with the highest possible vote ranking of 100 percent for the 2015 legislative year. The California Taxpayers Association (CalTax) awarded the score to Senator Huff for his leadership and votes on tax and spending issues that benefitted California’s business climate. CalTax has represented the interests of California taxpayers for more than 89 years.
“I am deeply honored by this recognition and attention to my efforts to make California a better place for families, business and job creators,” said Senator Huff. “The Legislature should focus on the goals of improving California’s business climate and creating jobs and opportunities for California families. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case.”
According to CalTax, “accountability for legislative votes on tax and public spending issues is critical. Tax and spending policies voted on by the legislature have a major impact on the health of California’s economy, and on the state’s ability to attract investment and jobs. The cost of government, the level of taxation and the operation of the tax system are highly quantifiable measures that businesses evaluate when making decisions on where to locate operations.”
Senator Huff was cited by CalTax for his efforts to oppose bills that sought to increase local sales and use taxes in California (AB 464), and arbitrary fuel-reduction mandates spelled out in SB 350. He was also recognized for his votes to provide relief for taxpayers who went through foreclosure (AB 99) and his support for legislative efforts to conform state and federal tax laws (AB 154).
“Senator Huff has been a vocal proponent of efforts to improve our state’s tax policies and economy, and he has backed up his words with votes,” said CalTax President Teresa Casazza. “His voting record during the 2015 legislative session proves that he supports good tax policy and has strongly supported efforts to strengthen California’s economy.”
