New Chief Financial Officer Appointed
(Santa Ana, CA)—County Executive Officer Frank Kim has announced the selection of Michelle Aguirre to serve as the County’s new chief financial officer (CFO) effective immediately. She fills the vacancy left by Kim, who had served as CFO since 2013 and was named county executive officer in May 2015.
“I know Michelle to be an extraordinary employee and leader,” Kim said. “Going down the check list of critical attributes for a CFO, she has them all – integrity, trustworthiness, strategic-minded, strong financial knowledge, analytical, collaborative, team-oriented, effective coach and mentor, solid decision-maker and great a communicator.”
Aguirre has provided oversight of the County’s $5 billion budget as director of the County’s Budget Office since 2013 and has been employed by the County of Orange for more than 25 years. She joined in the County in 1989 as an office assistant in the former General Services Agency and was promoted to staff analyst and administrative manager positions in the County Executive Office and Probation Department. As chief financial officer, she will work to ensure the financial stability of the County by managing the budget, procurement, public finance and risk management functions in an efficient, cost-effective and responsive manner.
Michelle holds a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from California State University, Fullerton.
