Expect a lot of friction between OC Supervisor Chairman Todd Spitzer and new Supervisor Michelle Steel.
For example, when it comes to OCDA Tony Rackauckas, Spitzer has drawn a line in the sand, both in social media and at the Santa Ana courthouse steps, about T-Rack’s deputy district attorneys bungling of the Dekaraii case and several other gang murder cases. Stories are circulating that a key prosecutor sidestepped the chain of command and got personal approval from Tony to use the jail house informants, which violated state and federal law. Some say this is why that prosecutor is still working and not on admin leave. Perhaps the CA Attorney General’s investigation will explore this rumor.
But Supervisor Steel praised Rackauckas in a recent OC Register article for his leadership in the crisis. What the Register failed to mention, was the strong, personal friendship between Steel and DA Chief of Staff Susan Kang. (Word has it she is dropping the Schroeder name.)
Susan Kang hosted a personal meet-and-greet at her home for Steel during her campaign for Supervisor, and has been an avid supporter for many years. So Spitzer can expect no help from Supervisor Steel for much of anything during her tenure on the Board.
But keep this on the QT!
