Naz Namazi, a former campaign staffer of U.S. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher and one of three Republicans running for the 37th State Senate District made good on her threat to report one of her opponents, Don Wagner, to the FPPC.
Namazi has accused Wagner’s campaign of colluding with an Independent Expenditure Committee. Here are the details courtesy of her latest press release:
I received three campaign related mail pieces: one on Thursday 19 February followed by another on Friday 20 February and then on Saturday 21 February. The first and third mail pieces were paid for by Don Wagner for Senate 2015 and the second was paid for by the Alliance of Energy, Labor and Healthcare Invested in The Middle Class – an independent expenditure (IE). The IE mailer was timed to arrive sandwiched between the Candidate Wagner mail pieces. The first two mail pieces (by the Candidate and the IE) share the exact same frame of photography, the same five endorsements and similar messaging. The phrasing “we can trust” and “Donald Wagner for Senate” was used in both mail pieces. The IE mailer appears to “reproduce, republish and disseminate, in whole or in substantial part, a communication designed, produced, paid for and distributed by the mailer” of candidate Donald Wagner.
