Political candidates are not supposed to in any way communicate with the PACs and individuals who fund Independent Expenditure Committees. But apparently Don Wagner didn’t get the memo.
Naz Namazi, a former campaign staffer to U.S. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, issued a press release today alleging that Wagner sent out a campaign mailer that was pretty darn similar to one that was paid for by an independent expenditure and sent out in the mail within a day of the Wagner mailer, on February 19 and 20.
Both mailers share the exact same frame of photography. Both mailers list the same five endorsements. The alternate photos share the same clothing and style.
Wagner and an independent expenditure committee each sent campaign mailers that look like they were designed by the same person and that is not permitted according to state law.
Apparently Namazi has contacted an attorney who is going to ask the California Fair Political Practices Committee to launch an investigation.
None of this should come as a surprise given that Wagner’s biggest supporter is the nefarious lobbyist Curt Pringle.
