I don’t know much about her except that she is self-employed and she has set up a campaign funding website.
Stewardson’s entry into the race for the 37SD is bad news for Naz Namazi, the former Dana Robhrabacher campaign staffer who local liberal blogger Greg Diamond has been promoting on his Orange Juice blog.
While write-in candidates theoretically can win in a low turnout Special Election, the reality is that the 37SD is a Republican seat. And with this many candidates running it is likely that no one will win outright on March 17, which means the top two candidates will head to a run-off election. Those candidates are likely to be the leading Republicans in the race – State Assemblyman Don Wagner and former O.C. Supervisor John Moorlach.
The Democrats should have placed Stewardson in this race sooner – and gotten her on the ballot. This is yet another mistake by the reeling O.C. Democratic Party which lost two big legislative races in Orange County last year when Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva was defeated in the 65th Assembly District and former Assemblyman Jose Solorio was thoroughly beaten by former O.C. Supervisor Janet Nguyen in the 34th State Senate District.
