“California’s Most Trusted Taxpayer Advocate.” John Moorlach for State Senate!
By the Orange County Tea Party Blog
As many of you know, there is a very important special election coming up to the fill the vacancy in the 37th State Senate district. The 37th SD, which covers a third of the county and is one of Southern California’s largest State Senate districts, stretches as far north as south Huntington Beach and covers most of south central O.C.
The special election to fill this vacancy will be held on March 17th. If no candidate receives a majority of the votes, there will be a run-off election on May 19th! Three GOP candidates have officially launched their campaigns: Assemblyman Donald P. Wagner, former campaign adviser and current Mission Viejo Realtor Naz Namazi, and former O.C. Supervisor/County Treasurer John Moorlach. By this Spring, only one will have the privilege of serving the good people of the 37th in Sacramento’s upper chamber.
There is no question in my mind that the most qualified and the most experienced candidate to take on the fiscal challenges this state faces, and to serve our interests in the State Senate, is former Orange County Supervisor John Moorlach!
John Moorlach is the only candidate in this race who sounded the alarm bells on the County’s financial meltdown back in 1994, warning taxpayers and others about a real fiscal cliff before it happened! John Moorlach not only predicted one of the largest municipal bankruptcies in U.S. history, but he was later appointed and elected to restore our fiscal situation and bring Orange County back from the brink.
As our former County Treasurer for over ten years, we can credit John Moorlach for overseeing our recovery and demonstrating sound fiscal management skills, working to make our county government more lean, more efficient, and more transparent! There are very few elected officials in Orange County who have a solid record like John Moorlach’s. This is a man who saved Orange County’s sinking ship and put our fiscal house back in order! Of course, that is the benefit of having a CPA, rather than a lawyer, overseeing how our government spends our money!
Since 2006, Moorlach has served two-terms on the Board of Supervisors, representing Orange County’s 2nd district. As our County Supervisor for the past eight years, Moorlach has maintained a leading role in fighting wasteful spending and pushing for strict pension reform.
No one has worked harder on the Board of Supervisors to demand accountability of the taxpayers money and to find ways to cut back on wasteful and unnecessary spending.
We can credit John Moorlach on such major accomplishments as: Restructuring the medical benefits of retirees, reducing the cost to taxpayers by over a billion dollars! Creating an Independent Review Board to provide oversight of public engagement with law enforcement. Being the chief architect behind Measure J, which provided more transparency and allowed the public more engagement on pension reform issues!
Another one of Moorlach’s major accomplishments, as our most conservative County Supervisor, was his efforts in 2009 to expose the shocking truth that Planned Parenthood was receiving County tobacco settlement money under the guise of being a “Community Clinic.” Moorlach quickly sounded the alarm bells on this and led the way to shut-off all County funds to the nation’s largest abortion mill!
These are just some of John Moorlach’s conservative accomplishments while serving the good folks in the second district.
Given his fiscally conservative record, I think it’s safe to say that John Moorlach was a Tea Party guy before the Tea Party ever came about! There is a reason why fellow conservative and former Moorlach colleague on the Board Shawn Nelson has referred to him as “California’s most trusted taxpayer advocate.” In addition to Nelson, the newly re-elected fiscal hawk Mayor of Anaheim Tom Tait endorses John Moorlach for State Senate! Conservative giant Tom McClintock has called John Moorlach: “A fighter for lean, efficient government.”
Folks from across our state and county have recognized that John Moorlach is the right choice to take-on our state’s enormous fiscal challenges and to bring some sanity back to Sacramento! We can have the confidence in knowing that John Moorlach will fight tax increases, fight wasteful spending, and help fix the pension liability crisis as our next State Senator! I have no doubt, that the conservative folks in the 37th will be well-represented by John Moorlach in the State Senate!
In terms of these two other candidates running, I believe one will be using this State Senate seat as a means to climb the political ladder and the other is an almost complete unknown.
Very little is known about Mission Viejo Realtor and former Rohrabacher campaign staffer Naz Namazi. She filed just prior to the deadline and doesn’t seem to have any political experience, other than being a deputy campaign manager for the re-election of Congressman Dana Rohrabacher. She is also said to be his Congressional staffer.
Namazi is a 47 year old American of Pakistani origin, she resides in Irvine, and she was educated here in Orange County. Very little can be said or noted about her because, as far as I know, she doesn’t even have a website up and running! We can only assume that perhaps she might have other motives for running and I’m not sure what to make of the fact that she chose not to put a description or title beside her name on the ballot.
The other candidate in this race is the establishment’s choice: Assemblyman Donald P. Wagner. As I’ve stated in a previous post, many are still very skeptical of Don Wagner for a 2013 letter that he co-signed urging Congress to pass amnesty legislation.
Wagner has never taken-back or denounced his involvement in the letter. Nor has he even admitted that the letter was advocating for amnesty, as it clearly does! I encourage folks to click on the PDF link below and read the letter for yourself!
The phrase in the letter: “and opportunity for undocumented residents to earn their way to full citizenship”speaks for itself and is clearly amnesty! That letter, no matter what the intentions were behind it, can only be interpreted one way!
From my perspective, almost as disturbing, was a recent appearance by Wagner at a local Tea Party meeting, where he made the comment that Obama’s lawless executive order on amnesty was caused by Republicans in Congress failing to act on immigration. Watch below!
Wagner said “the only way” to handcuff Obama from committing his illegal amnesty was for Congress to pass “affirmative law” on the matter, which is another way of saying that the GOP controlled Congress should have passed their own amnesty legislation first!
That’s right! According to Wagner, if Republicans in Congress would just pass their own amnesty, Obama wouldn’t be forced to violate the most basic principle in our beloved Constitution, the separation of powers doctrine!
I don’t know about you, but that disturbing comment almost appears to be giving our lawless President some cover and it comes across as a justification for his blatant illegal act! At the very least, a comment like that is foolish and naive! I encourage folks to watch the video for yourself below!
Before skeptical members of the Tea Party, you’ll notice that Wagner also attempted to play semantics games with the wording in the letter. Thankfully, many of us have all seen the letter and can read what it clearly states for ourselves! Once again, I encourage folks to read it for yourself below!
Some one should tell Mr. Wagner that Republicans in Congress don’t need to pass new legislation, current immigration law, already on the books, is sufficient to deal with this problem! It’s called enforcing current law!
If the Republican controlled Congress should pass anything, it should be to reauthorize funding to complete the border fence, which is something that they voted for back in 2006!
Another important thing you need to know about Assemblyman Wagner is the fact that contribution reports indicate that he has received over $8,000 in donations from one the state’s largest Police Unions, the Peace Officers Research Association of California PAC. In addition to that information below on CalAccess, you’ll notice that some of Wagner’s other big contributors include the hospitality industry, the banking industry, lawyers, and from folks in the GOP Establishment, like party boss Shawn Steel and former liberal Republican turn-coat State Senator Tom Harmon.
Another disturbing thing uncovered about Wagner’s record is his endorsement last year of Anaheim City Councilwoman Lucille Kring. To remind you, Kring was the RINO candidate who the establishment put forward to challenge conservative Mayor Tom Tait, in that contentious Mayoral race in Anaheim last year.
Kring has been accused of engaging in corruption and cronyism with resort developers while serving on the Council. Mayor Tait has been the courageous warrior against cronyism in his city and even took on the establishment in his own party for fighting against corruption.
The take-away here is that Mr. Wagner chose to endorse the RINO Kring, over the much more principled and conservative Tait in that race! Tom Tait ended up winning that race by a huge margin and is now endorsing John Moorlach for State Senate.
To me, I think the choice in this race is obvious! On March 17th, I’m going to cast my precious vote for a fiscally conservative warrior, a man who has demonstrated time and again to be a good steward of our tax dollars!
I’m going to pull the lever for someone who has a long list of conservative accomplishments, a principled and honest man who has always stood for what’s right and has never backed down from a fight! We need someone like John Moorlach in Sacramento, someone with integrity and someone we can trust to take-on the Unions and special interests without blinking!
If you live in one of the following cities: Huntington Beach (south), Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods, Lake Forest, Irvine, Foothill Ranch, Tustin, Orange, Villa Park, and Anaheim (east), I strongly encourage you to vote for a solid fiscal hawk on March 17th! Vote for John Moorlach for State Senate!
Since absentee ballots will be sent out later this month, I strongly encourage you to start spreading this information far and wide! I’ve pasted a map of the district, as well as Mr. Moorlach’s website below! Thanks and God bless!

“Creating an Independent Review Board to provide oversight of public engagement with law enforcement.”
It’s not a “board.” It’s an office occupied by one of the most ineffectual people I ever dealt with at the County. And it costs four hundred grand a year to feed and care for this lap dog.
P.S. I can’t think of a single thing Moorlach ever did to make County government leaner. Not one.one.
Apparently you can’t read because there are several items noted in the article above.
Well, gee, ya know that article was one of the most misinformed things I’ve ever read. Give me one specific and (and real) thing Moorlach ever did to make the County government leaner.
Apart from his pension mania he spent eight years coddling an already papmered and unaccountable bureaucracy; all part of his “County family” bullshit.
