Supervisor-elect Bartlett to Take Oath of Office
(Santa Ana, CA) — A special meeting of the Orange County Board of Supervisors will convene at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, in the Board Hearing Room to administer the Oath of Office to Supervisor-elect Lisa Bartlett.
Supervisor-elect Bartlett, who currently is mayor of Dana Point, was elected on November 4, 2014, to represent the 5th Supervisorial District in south Orange County. She is taking office a month early to fill the unexpired term of Supervisor Patricia Bates, who was chosen by voters in the same election to represent the 36th state Senate District. The manner of succession was authorized by voters in the November election as an amendment to the County Charter.
Supervisor Bates will be sworn in as a new state Senator on Monday, December 1, 2014. Joining her will be newly elected Senator Janet Nguyen, who has represented the 1st Supervisorial District in central Orange County. A special election will be called to choose a successor to Supervisor Nguyen.
Supervisor-elect Michelle Steel, also elected to office on November 4, will be administered the Oath of Office on January 5, 2015, to replace outgoing Supervisor John Moorlach to represent the 2nd Supervisorial District in west Orange County. Supervisor Bartlett also will be sworn in again at that time to her full four-year term.
