The 2014 OC General Election was a disaster for most liberals – particularly in the City of Huntington Beach where City Council incumbents Joe Shaw and Connie Boardman got the boot.
Two of the City Council candidates we endorsed, Mike Posey and Erik Peterson won, in addition to two more Council newcomers, Barbara Delgleize and William “Billy” O’Connell.
Measure T – which makes Safe and Sane Fireworks legal again, also passed overwhelmingly with over 60% of the vote. Shaw and Boardman opposed it and paid the price for their folly.
We also endorsed Michael Gates for City Attorney and he defeated the incumbent, Jennifer McGrath – yet another Democrat who lost in Huntington Beach on Nov. 4.
Huntington Beach Councilman Matt Harper, a conservative Republican, also won in his race for the 74th Assembly District, against RINO Newport Beach Councilman Keith Curry by a margin of 59% to 41%.
The only sour note was that carpetbagging RINO Michelle Steel defeated conservative Republican Allan Mansoor and will replace John Moorlach on the Orange County Board of Supervisors, in the 2nd District.
I was one that fought for Measure T long and hard and did my best to convince people to support the nonprofits. Joe Shaw and Connie Boardman attitude of the people they represent being too stupid and unqualified to make decisions got them a ride out of the council seats.
