Senator Huff to Host Tax Seminar in La Habra This Week
Wednesday Event to Focus on Nonprofit and Exempt Organizations
SACRAMENTO: Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) will host a free Tax Seminar for nonprofit and exempt organizations in conjunction with Board of Equalization (BOE). The event will take place this Wednesday, September 17th at the La Habra Community Center on West La Habra Blvd. in the City of La Habra. The all-day event will run from 9AM-4PM. Check-in will begin at 8:30 AM.
California State Board of Equalization (BOE) Member Michelle Steel is helping to sponsor this free event. Other guests will include Assemblyman Curt Hagman (R-Chino Hills) and La Habra Mayor Tom Beamish. Organizations and individuals who want to learn about important state laws that affect nonprofits or managers who want to increase the success of their nonprofit organizations are invited to attend.
Representatives from the BOE, Employment Development Department, and the Franchise Tax Board will offer assistance on sales and use taxes for nonprofits, compliance for exempt organizations, employment taxes and nonprofits, and property tax exemptions.
“This tax seminar is designed to help individuals understand the state’s sales and use tax laws as they apply to nonprofits,” said Senator Huff. “Nonprofit organizations face a number of challenges when it comes to navigating the sometimes confusing and complicated nature of California tax laws. This seminar will help them avoid common pitfalls and tax traps so that they can focus on their mission of serving the people of California.”
