FPPC Complaint Filed Against Aliso Viejo Mayor
In the most BONEHEAD move of this election cycle, Democrat Phil Tsunoda has been caught using a “city-maintained email list to promote his and another city council member’s re-election campaigns” per the OC Register two days ago. In part,
The list Tsunoda accessed was one compiled by the city from residents who voluntarily offer up their email addresses to receive a periodic “eNews” email detailing what’s going on in Aliso Viejo. “I requested the list and I feel horribly about that and its use,” Tsunoda said in an interview on Monday. In a statement posted Sunday on two of his social media accounts – Facebook and LinkedIn – Tsunoda said the mistake was unintentional and offered an open letter of apology to the community. He said he incorrectly assumed the city’s email list was a public document before being notified of the mistake by the city.
It took no time at all for Dave Harrington, a Tsunoda opponent and former Sheriff’s Deputy to file a justifiable FPPC Complaint. Tsunoda’s emails also promoted fellow council member Carmen Cave for re-election, but it’s unclear if she was also named in the documentation.
Tsunoda is a former Chris Norby staffer and a long-time county political insider who certainly knew better than to obtain and use this list for his (and Cave’s) own selfish purposes. He once held a patronage job at the County Clerk-Recorder under Democrat Tom Daly and then a six-figure position with CalOptima, the OC Health Care Agency (which also employed Norby’s brother Eric), “courtesy of his relationship with County Supervisor Janet Nguyen”. As we know, the corrupt Nguyen has managed to severely damage CalOptima and has attracted the attention of the FBI.
Orange County need this stooge out of politics and off our government payroll.
