Why did Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas choose to prosecute Orange County Assessor Webster Guillory today, for fraudulent election nomination forms, while ignoring the same act when Troy Edgar was running for O.C. Clerk-Recorder in June, with the help of his sidekick Brett Barbre?
Chalk this up to OC Republican politics as usual. You see Guillory is running in November against a GOP stalwart, Claude Parrish. And Parrish has endorsed carpetbagging Supervisorial candidate Michelle Steel. T-Rack wants Steel to win, according to many insiders, because then he can retire in the next year or so and hand off his job to his foul-mouthed right hand, Susan Kang-Schroeder. Steel, as a Supervisor, will of course support that notion.
Guillory, a lifelong Decline to State voter, doesn’t have a party to defend him. So it is easy for T-Rack to sweep him aside.
One has to wonder also why T-Rack didn’t prosecute the shifty Iranian carpetbagger Sherry Walker, who while living in Lake Forest ran for the 69th Assembly District, which includes much of Anaheim and Santa Ana. Of course not! T-Rack’s probably happy to see Tom Daly hang onto the 69th A.D. Cecilia Iglesias, the GOP candidate Walker beat in June, would have given Daly a tougher time in November.
Guillory jumped into the OC Assessor’s race late this year. Another candidate dropped out and so Guillory jumped back in, even though he had wanted to retire. And so he made a mistake.
Guillory should probably stop running now and lawyer up. But make no mistake about it. T-Rack should have gone after Edgar and Barbre and Walker too. The fact that he let them off the hook is disgusting.
