A California lawmaker, State Senator Ben Hueso, D-San Diego, was observed driving the wrong way down a one-way street in downtown Sacramento early Friday morning, leading to his arrest for driving under the influence, according to Fox News.
We now know that Hueso got wasted at a Latino Caucus dinner Thursday night at Il Fornaio. The Latino Caucus does not allow any Republicans to join – they are all Democrats and apparently they like to drink. And you can bet that the bill for this drunken debauchery was paid for by the taxpayers.
Hueso was driving a Ford Fusion registered to the State of California. Yes the taxpayers paid for this guy to drive drunk – going the wrong way to top it all off. He could have killed someone.
You have to wonder who was at the dinner where Hueso got his drink on. Click here for a directory of the members of the California Latino Caucus. How many of them got drunk with Hueso and how many of them let him leave, in his car, knowing he was drunk?
Hueso wrote a letter that was signed by many of his Democratic colleagues demanding that a top California wildlife official resign after he shot and killed a mountain lion in Idaho, where it is legal to kill such animals. (Source: Mercury News).
Hueso wanted an official to resign after that official did NOTHING to break the law. So will Hueso resign after receiving a DUI – in a state car, while driving the wrong way? I doubt that very much. And so far NONE of his Democratic colleagues have called on him to resign.
Ironically Hueso hosted a Child Car Seat Safety Clinic in his district on June 28. Let’s hope he doesn’t kill any kids the next time Hueso gets drunk and gets behind the wheel!
The California Democrats captured a super majority in the State Senate when Hueso was elected in a special election in 2013, to replace former State Senator Juan Vargas in the 40th State Senate District, according to the Sacramento Bee. Vargas moved on to the U.S House of Representatives.
Hueso has not apologized for his DUI on his Facebook page or anywhere else for that matter.
The the 40th Senate District includes the cities of Chula Vista, National City, Imperial Beach, Coronado a portion of the City of San Diego, Imperial County and the southern part of Riverside.
