Los Alamitos Councilman, not quite OC Clerk-Recorder candidate and former California Congressional Assembly candidate Troy Edgar‘s finally found a way to win an election — get appointed instead of voted for.
Per the Register yesterday,
Candidate Shelley Hasselbrink was surprisingly calm Wednesday as she won a seat on the City Council far earlier than she had expected and without having to fight for a single vote. With only three candidates – Hasselbrink and two incumbents – having applied for three open Los Alamitos council seats, it was up to the council to decide Wednesday whether to hold an election Nov. 4 or simply appoint the trio…She and Councilmen Troy Edgar and Warren Kusumoto were saved about 2 1/2 months of an election season when the council voted unanimously to appoint the three candidates.
Current Mayor Gerri Graham-Mejia, on the Council since 2006, will not run for re-election.
