DUFFY REPORTS $67K IN DONATIONS TO HIS CITY COUNCIL CAMPAIGN
Duffy Duffield reported this week that his Newport Beach City Council campaign had raised $67,052 in cash donation through June 30. Duffy, who announced his candidacy for the Fifth District council seat on May 21, was able to amas his impressive total in just under six weeks.
“I’m all in,” Duffy said this week. “This is a campaign for the future of Newport Beach. We’ll be talking a lot about the fiscal future of our city in the face of the city’s half-‐billion-‐dollar debt. We’ll talk about a government that actually listens to the voters. But the real issue is whether we will keep our unique and special seaside community or become some kind of bureaucrats’ playground and taxpayers’ black hole.”
Donations came in the form of 87 cash contributions from individuals from throughout the city. The campaign reported no in-‐kind contributions or loans.
“It’s a great start and I am grateful for the outpouring of support,” Duffy said. “We’ve been able to do really well in a short time. I think that’s because a lot of people are very unhappy with some of the things the current City Council has done. They want someone who really represents them to be in those chairs.”
The campaign said it had made only a couple of relatively minor expenditures and had $66,282.09 still on hand at the end of the reporting period.
