MEDIA ADVISORY: ASM. MANSOOR PRESS CONFERENCE
Supervisor John Moorlach Joins Assemblyman Allan Mansoor in Announcing Opposition to Caltrans Imposing Toll Lanes on the I-405
Press Conference Will Also Feature Representatives from City Councils along the I-405 Corridor
Costa Mesa – Supervisor John Moorlach will join Assemblyman Allan R. Mansoor in a press conference in opposition to Caltrans’ decision to impose toll lanes on the I-405 on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. outside his District Office in Costa Mesa.
Also attending will be Westminster Councilmember Diana Carey, Fountain Valley Mayor Michael Vo, Los Alamitos Mayor Gerri L. Graham-Mejia, Seal Beach Councilmember Gary Miller, and Rossmoor Community Services District President Michael Maynard in addition to community leaders opposing toll lanes on Orange County public highways.
Orange County voters have twice voted for Measure M, the half-cent sales tax, to pay for transportation needs in Orange County. The Measure M promise was clear: a new lane in each direction on the 405 from Costa Mesa to Seal Beach. Caltrans, like OCTA before it, now wants to use Measure M funds to further increase revenue through the addition of toll lanes on the 405.
“Orange County taxpayers were never told that Measure M funds would be used to build toll lanes on public highways,” said Mansoor. “Caltrans is imposing its will by having local dollars pay to add an additional lane only to have it converted to a state-owned toll lane. I will continue to be an outspoken advocate on this issue to protect taxpayers from this money grab by Sacramento bureaucrats and Orange County politicians,” added Mansoor.
Assemblyman Mansoor proudly represents Orange County’s 74th Assembly District, which includes the cities of Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods, and large portions of Huntington Beach and Irvine.
