DIANE DIXON FILES PAPERS FOR NEWPORT BEACH CITY COUNCIL RACE
Diane Dixon, a Lido Isle resident with a 30-year career as a Fortune 300 senior executive, today filed officially to run for the Newport Beach City Council in the First District.
“I am running for City Council because I support openness and transparency at City Hall, rigorous financial controls, enhanced public safety, and protection of our bay, beaches, harbor and neighborhoods,” said Dixon.
Dixon had announced in December her intention to run. Since then, she has been meeting with residents throughout Newport Beach and raising funds for the campaign.
“I have talked with hundreds of people from Newport Coast to Peninsula Point,” Dixon said, “and what I hear over and over is 1) a plea to protect our property and neighborhoods and 2) concern that the city’s government has taken on too much debt for projects and spending that residents are only finding out about at the last minute or after the fact.”
“The pillars of my campaign are fiscal discipline and really listening to the people,” Dixon said. “Let’s work together!”
Last week, the Dixon campaign reported having raised more than $83,000 as of June 30.
Dixon also has been endorsed by state Sens. Mimi Walters and Marian Bergeson (ret.), former Newport Beach mayors Evelyn Hart and Clarence Turner, former council members Robert Shelton and Jean Watt, and residents, community activists and business people from throughout the city.
