Former Alameda County Supervisor Nadia Lockyer broke her back in a fall at her home over the weekend, she reports on Facebook, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
“I broke my back on Saturday,’’ she wrote on her Facebook page Monday. “Can’t believe it myself,’’ she wrote. “Thought the stars were going to finally let up on me.’’
Lockyer has been in recovery for meth addiction since resigning from the Alameda County Board of Supervisors two years ago following a bizarre and widely publicized drug and sex scandal. She and her husband, who will be termed out as treasurer at the end of the year, are dividing their time between Long Beach and the Bay Area, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Lockyer is married to Bill Lockyer, who is wrapping up his last term as our State Treasurer. At one time she was a Santa Ana School Board Trustee. She married Lockyer after meeting him at a Democratic convention and getting pregnant. He bankrolled her Alameda County Supervisorial campaign but she had to resign after developing a meth habit.
Her husband is currently splitting his time in his final year in office between his state responsibilities and offering strategic advice and counsel to clients of Brown Rudnick LLP at their office in Irvine, according to a statement released late last year.
We wish Lockyer a full recovery. It has been a rough time for her over the past few years and breaking her back is certainly not helping. She is in recovery at the Kaiser Permanente Irvine Medical Center.
