Former State Assemblyman Chris Norby was cleared today in OC Family Court of any charges stemming from his arrest a few months ago when his wife Martha claimed that he had beat her.
Here is Norby’s latest email update sent to his supporters regarding this case:
All allegations against me were dismissed by OC Family Court Judge Lon Hurwitz today. In a definitive and final ruling following two days of testimony, the charges were ruled without merit and the accuser lacking in credibility. A Family Court hearing of the allegations was necessary, even though the DA had dropped the case, to determine future support and visitation.
After hearing my testimony and those of two corroborating witnesses, the Judge stated that it was I more closely fit the pattern of an abused spouse. The temporary restraining order has been lifted and I am free to return to my home and be with my four children again.
My children and I have been subjected to a grave injustice, when the law was put in the service of deceit. When all the facts were fully vetted before an experienced judge, however, truth did prevail. I look forward to a brighter future lifted from this dark veil.
Thanks especially to the many Beechwood School parents who comforted my kids and stood by my family during this trying time.
