Aside from the Chamber of Commerce money coming over the transom at Matt “Jerbal” Cunningham’s Anaheim Blog this a.m. is this nonsense:
The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association has endorsed Supervisor Janet Nguyen for the 34th Senate District (which includes a large portion of west Anaheim):
Today Janet Nguyen announced receiving the endorsement of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association (HJTA) for her campaign for Senate. The HJTA is California’s largest taxpayer protection organization and was instrumental in passing California’s historic property tax law Prop 13. [More here].
What’s Jon Coupal thinking? We rarely differ with him on his columns and his great organization’s strategies (and especially their opposition to the Crazy Train), but it’s apparent here that he hasn’t done his homework, or he’s made a knee-jerk decision to support one of the most disappointing and corrupt Republicans in California.
We’d refer Jon to a large inventory of good investigative work by the union-funded Voice of OC on Nguyen’s abysmal handling of CalOptima while she’s been the sole OC Supervisor on their Board. The VoOC also reported that Board of Supervisors is so unhappy with Nguyen’s manipulation of CalOptima that they’ve taken the extraordinary step to place Supervisor Todd Spitzer on the CalOptima dais to ensure Orange County’s only health plan for low-income residents gets back on track (and Spitzer’s just the pain in the ass to do it). CalOptima was “slammed” by a US government audit earlier this year, and Janet Nguyen’s fundraising from CalOptima vendors remains under investigation by the FBI.
On a smaller scale, Nguyen’s done to CalOptima what Kathleen Sebelius, the thankfully former Cabinet Secretary of HHS, did to Obamacare. The incompetent Sebelius, who was just thrown under the bus by her boss, the worst President we’ve EVER had, deserves everything that happens to her this week. Nguyen’s no different — we can’t afford her in the State Senate — and Jon Coupal and the HJTA ought to know better.
