Former GOP U.S. Senator Bob Dole Endorses Bill Brough for State Assembly
DANA POINT, CA – Today former GOP Senator and Presidential Nominee Bob Dole announced his support for Dana Point City Councilman Bill Brough for the 73rd Assembly District, citing Brough’s service to the Nation as a U.S. Army veteran. Brough is running for Diane Harkey’s open State Assembly District, where Brough previously served as Harkey’s Chief of Staff.
“Bill Brough is a veteran who understands what it means to serve our country. He was a strong supporter of my 1996 campaign, and I am proud to support him,” said Senator Dole.
Senator Dole’s support comes as Brough’s campaign has kicked off a widespread ground effort, including dozens of walkers from the California Republican Assembly, whose delegates voted to endorse Bill Brough at their annual convention last week.
“I’m honored to have Senator Dole’s support,” said Councilman Brough. “He’s a true American hero and a trusted voice among Republican voters. His support means a lot to me personally, and to our campaign as we reach out to the District’s Republican primary voters.”
With strong name identification and a pro-taxpayer reputation, Councilman Bill Brough is widely considered the odds-on-favorite to come out the top vote getter in this multi-candidate primary election. Brough enjoys strong endorsements from throughout Orange County, including from over two dozen local Mayors and City Councilmembers.
