UPDATE: We are hearing that Troy Edgar may file an appeal on Monday to reverse the OC Registrar of Voter’s decision to not count his nomination signatures as valid after Edgar got caught collecting signatures in the Registrar’s office after the 5 pm deadline. Reportedly up to five witnesses are ready to testify that Edgar’s pal Brett Barbre was the one collecting the signatures after the deadline. We hope Edgar won’t waste taxpayer resources on such a silly appeal.
Los Alamitos Councilman Troy Edgar pulled papers to challenge Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen on the afternoon that candidate filing closed, according to the OC Political blog.
What happened next was hilarious. “After the Registrar’s office locked their doors at 5 PM, Edgar’s team continued to collect nomination signatures inside the Registrar’s office. A Registrar’s employee and a Sheriff’s Deputy stopped any further signature collection. Edgar’s team submitted exactly 20 signatures, the minimum number required to qualify for the ballot for Clerk-Recorder under the Elections Code.”
But wait – this story gets even better = “The Registrar rejected Edgar’s filing after viewing surveillance camera footage that confirmed at least two signatures were collected after the 5 PM deadline and therefore could not be counted for filing, so Edgar’s 11th hour bid for Clerk-Recorder was rejected by the Registrar.”
What a complete clown that Edgar is! I almost wish he had succeeded in getting on the ballot as he would have made a great bookend for that perpetual payaso – Steve Rocco, who did make it onto the ballot and will be running for OC Clerk-Recorder along with a couple other ridiculous candidates in Monica Maddox and Gary Pritchard.
