I received an inadvertently hilarious press release this week from the campaign of Eric Woolery, the Treasurer in the City of Orange who is running for OC Auditor-Controller. Woolery’s campaign is claiming that he has all but won his election because he has “locked up the major county election mail slates in his campaign for Auditor-Controller, which will carry his message to voters on 1.5 million pieces of mail.”
Slate mail? Really? Has there ever been a time when slate mail was less important? We are living in the digital age. Voters get annoyed by mail now and it goes right in the trash.
And Woolery isn’t the only qualified candidate running for OC Auditor-Controller. He has some real competition, which includes:
- Frank Davies, CPA – the Director of Property Tax at the office of the OC Auditor-Controller
- John Willard, the Assistant Director of Employee Benefits at the County of Orange
- and James T. Benuzzi, former member of the Audit Oversight Committee, City of Placentia
Woolery stated in his press release that “Currently, the Auditor-Controller’s office is missing opportunities to ensure proactive and efficient uses of taxpayer dollars.” That may be true but is he the guy to do something about that?
Woolery’s backers include the odious Frank Ury, Jerry Amante and Kris Murray. Those aren’t the sort of politicians he or any other candidate should be hanging out with!
