REP. SANCHEZ STATEMENT ON RETIREMENT OF CONGRESSMAN HENRY WAXMAN
WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Loretta Sanchez (CA-46) today released the following statement after Congressman Henry Waxman announced that he would not seek re-election this year.
“Congressman Henry Waxman has been a pillar of wisdom, reason and responsibility since he arrived in Washington nearly forty years ago. His accomplishments are innumerable – from championing affordable health care to reinforcing the Clean Air Act to investing in AIDS research and support.
“Above all, Henry put his constituents first. California’s leadership on vital issues like environmental and health care policy would not have been possible without him. It has been an honor to serve with him throughout my time in Congress and this institution will truly miss his leadership. I wish Henry and his family all my best.”
Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez is proud to represent California’s 46th Congressional District, which includes the cities of Anaheim, Santa Ana, and parts of the cities of Garden Grove and Orange in Orange County. She serves as Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces and the second ranked Democrat on the Committee on Homeland Security. Rep. Sanchez is also a member of the fiscally conservative Blue Dog Coalition and sits on the bipartisan, bicameral Joint Economic Committee.
