Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) reacts to the 2014-2015 state budget forecast from the Legislative Analyst’s Office in his Capitol Comment for the Week of November 18th, 2013.
Senator Huff says the good news from LAO Chief Mac Taylor should be tempered with caution. Although his forecast shows that California will enjoy its first budget surplus since 2006, with many future surpluses to come, the projections are based on a number of assumptions. Senator Huff says this includes rising stock prices and a recovering housing market.
Senate Republicans agree with the conclusions reached by the LAO, which preaches fiscal prudence in the years to come. The Senate Republican Leader predicts there will be enormous pressure on the Legislature to spend this money, which he hopes legislators can ignore.
Senator Huff serves as the Senate Republican Leader and represents the 29th Senate District covering portions of Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino Counties. Follow Senator Huff on Twitter @bobhuff99.
