Huff Earns Perfect Score from California Chamber
Senate Republican Leader Recognized for Job Creation and Retention Efforts
SACRAMENTO: The California Chamber of Commerce has awarded the highest of scores to Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) for his unquestioned support for small business owners and the business community in the State Legislature. Senator Huff not only received a perfect score in the just released California Chamber 2013 Scorecard, but was also recognized as a top recipient in the “Best Business Votes” category. He earned the perfect score by supporting legislative measures designed to spur economic and job development, and opposing bills that sought to impose new burdens, mandates, taxes and fees on business.
“California’s reputation for having a bad business environment is well documented,” said Theresa Harvey, President of the Fullerton Chamber of Commerce. “Senator Huff consistently demonstrates his strong support for the business community by supporting measures which will result in new job and business creation.”
The California Chamber 2013 Scorecard contains 14 bills, and the Chamber says Senator Huff’s votes on these measures reflect his positive attitude “toward private enterprise, fiscal responsibility and the business climate.”
“Senator Huff understands that it is critical to keep a lid on costs for businesses so employers can keep jobs here,” said Allan Zaremberg, President and CEO of the California Chamber of Commerce. “Senator Huff’s pro-business votes reflect his commitment to protecting California jobs, preserving our competitiveness and fostering economic growth.”
Senator Huff earned his perfect California Chamber score through actions on issues important to the business community, including his support for measures to protect small business from predatory drive-by lawsuits (AB 227) and improve the business climate in California by reducing delays in processing documents for exporters (AB 1400). He also opposed California Chamber labeled “job-killer” measures that made it easier for employees to sue employers (SB 404), increased the costs of health insurance premiums (SB 353) and dramatically increased pollution penalties (SB 691).
“This recognition is indeed an honor for me because new job and business creation has always been, and will continue to be, one of my top priorities,” said Senator Huff. “The Chamber’s scorecard shows that Senate Republicans provide a strong voice and consistent votes to grow and protect jobs. When unemployment is low, more revenue is generated for the state, and fewer constituents are in need of state assistance. This is a win/win, and something I’m proud of.”
Senator Huff serves as the Senate Republican Leader and represents the 29th Senate District covering portions of Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino Counties. Follow Senator Huff on Twitter at @bobhuff99.
