Emanuel Patrascu, who successfully managed Assemblyman Travis Allen’s campaign to a landslide victory last year over Los Alamitos Councilman Troy Edgar for AD72, is going after AD74 — Allan Mansoor’s current District per this notice of a fundraiser in this afternoon’s email. Manny has been working for Travis Allen since the election, and had previously been former Senator Tom Harman’s Senior Policy Advisor in Costa Mesa. He is a long-time GOP operative in Orange County, a leader in the OC Young Republicans group and would be well-suited for this job.
Patrascu could easily beat Matt Harper for this nomination as well, but it’s still unknown what Allan Mansoor’s plans are — when we spoke with him last week, he was undecided about his plans for 2014 — will he run for re-election in AD74, or as has been expected, will he take on Michelle Steel for the 2nd District OC Supervisorial seat being vacated by John Moorlach? Steel has already accumulated over one-half million dollars for her campaign and would appear to have the backing of the local GOP establishment given her husband Shawn’s insider status with the Republicans.
