Huff Response to Compromise Agreement on CA Prisons
SACRAMENTO: Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) issued the following statement after appearing with the Governor and legislative leaders from both houses of the State Legislature to announce a compromise agreement on a new California prison plan.
“Senate Republicans have consistently opposed the early release of dangerous felons and this new agreement respects that concern,” said Senator Huff. “I believe we need a comprehensive approach that includes both recidivism reduction programs, and a plan for future prison capacity needs. This compromise avoids the early release of dangerous criminals and provides an opportunity for investments in programs to reduce the ‘revolving door’ to prison. Incarcerated individuals that want to become productive members of society will have that chance.”
Senator Huff serves as the Senate Republican Leader and represents the 29th Senate District covering portions of Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino Counties. Follow Senator Huff on Twitter at @bobhuff99.
