Trying to take some focus off Filthy Filner, from the U-T San Diego today: 10 other Calif. pols who faced sex harassment allegations, with Mike Duvall apparently getting an honorable mention. Aren’t we proud? And especially after R. Scott Moxley’s latest revelation just yesterday.
#2 – Santa Ana City Councilman Carlos Bustamante was handcuffed and arrested in July 2012 on suspicion of sexual battery, stalking and false imprisonment. Bustamante, a 47-year-old father of three, faces 16 criminal charges, 12 of them felonies. Bustamante has pleaded not guilty to charges of sexually assaulting seven female employees while he was an executive in the county Department of Public Works and awaits trial.
#10 – Orange County Supervisor Chris Norby faced accusations of sexual harassment from a former employee who said he made inappropriate comments and touched her breast on one occasion. A jury in 2004 ruled in her favor, but awarded no damages. The ruling was later reversed by an appeals court, which held the alleged acts did not establish a “pattern of continuous, pervasive harassment.” Norby, R-Fullerton, was later elected to represent the 72nd Assembly District, replacing Mike Duvall who had resigned in September 2009 after the broadcast of a videotape in which Duvall was caught boasting in explicit detail to a fellow committee member about sexual escapades with two women, one a lobbyist. Duvall a married father of two, had been hailed as a champion of family values.
