Senate Republican Leader Issues Statement Following Passage of Governor’s Enterprise Zone Plan
SACRAMENTO: Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) issued the following statement following the passage of Governor Brown’s plan to largely gut California’s successful Enterprise Zone Program.
“Over the long run, Enterprise Zones have benefitted job creation in California, and I’m disappointed this bill effectively eliminates Enterprise Zones rather than reforming them. That said, I am pleased that through negotiations with the Governor as well as my Republican and Democratic colleagues, we were able to improve the bill that’s now passed out of the Senate. Those improvements include extending the length of time businesses will be able to use their existing Enterprise Zone credits, and extending the sales and use tax exemptions and hiring credits for a longer period than the bill originally included. There’s still a lot of work to be done to get more Californians back to work.”
