Board of Supervisors Appoints Hieu Nguyen as Orange County Clerk-Recorder
SANTA ANA, CA— Supervisor Shawn Nelson, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, today announcedthe appointment of Hieu Nguyen to the position of Orange County Clerk-Recorder. Hieu Nguyen joinsthe County with an extensive background in management at all levels over the last 18 years.
“We are very proud of and thrilled for Hieu Nguyen. This is the culmination of 18 years of hard workand it’s now our job to commit every resource we can to guarantee his success” said Nelson.
Hieu Nguyen’s experience includes serving as Chief Deputy Recorder and Assistant Clerk of the Board of Supervisors. He started in the County as a Recordable Document Examiner and was promoted byformer Clerk-Recorder Gary Granville to Supervising Recordable Document Examiner. In 1999 he waspromoted to Chief Deputy Recorder and served in that position till June 2006 when he was promotedto Assistant Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, which is his current position.
Hieu Nguyen will be able to immediately provide management direction to the Department’soperational staff and provide the leadership and judgment needed to meet the legal and operational requirements of the office.
Hieu Nguyen migrated to the U.S. as a child from Vietnam. Following graduation from SaddlebackHigh School, Hieu married his high school sweetheart and they presently live in Santa Ana with theirtwo children.
The Board announced the Hieu Nguyen appointment as Orange County Clerk-Recorder following a series of interviews of 11 candidates Tuesday. His official starting date is to be determined with an annual salary of $139,526.40. Hieu Nguyen will succeed Tom Daly, who took office on December 17,2002 and served in this role until December 3, 2012. Mr. Daly currently serves in the California StateAssembly.
