Costa Mesa blogger Geoff West impresses no one with his latest screed about his nemeses Jim Righeimer and Steve Mensinger yesterday: Meeting The Mayor – I Tried! West wanted to attend Jim’s “Meet the Mayor” event at a local pizza joint, only “about a mile from my home” — but he couldn’t find any parking and was too timid or inconvenienced to want to cross 17th Street. Now he’s got even more to blame on two guys who are only trying to save West’s city from bankruptcy and complete union domination.
So the rest of us now lose out on more of his biting vitriol, fact modification and lies that caused Righeimer’s attorney to send him a letter in 2010 cautioning him about stepping over the line on personal attacks. In part, the Daily Pilot reported “The five-paragraph letter from attorney Mark Bucher, Righeimer’s brother-in-law, outlines three falsehoods and distortions that arose when Righeimer last ran for office. The accusations involve Righeimer’s personal finances, dealings in real estate and a minor brush with the law.”
To avoid stepping in it themselves, the Pilot also wrote they had “elected not to repeat the allegations [of West against Righeimer] verbatim, as they are known to be inaccurate or exaggerated.”
Orange County lost a good blog this week, and then there’s Geoff West’s.
Update: The Daily Pilot did a credible job of covering the event. They must have taken a cab.
