“The Orange County Board of Supervisors is quietly negotiating with Santa Barbara County’s CEO, Chandra L. Wallar, to take over the reins of the county’s $6-billion bureaucracy, according to sources with knowledge of the talks,” according to the Voice of OC.
Wallar apparently used to work as a deputy chief administrative officer in San Diego County’s land use division. She came to Santa Barbara in 2010. Waller is paid an annual salary of $232,000, according to the Santa Barbara Independent.
According to an online media report, Wallar is a civil engineer.
I dug around a bit and found out that Santa Barbara County has pretty much bungled the homeless situation, according to the Santa Barbara Independent, and they have had major budget problems over the past year, according to another online Santa Barbara news site, so Wallar should fit right in here in the O.C.
Also, no surprise, the Voice of OC reported that Supervisor Janet Nguyen has been throwing her weight around over who will be the next O.C. CEO. I hope the rest of the Supervisors just ignore her!
The OCEA’s posted this on their Facebook page:
From Nick Berardino: “As you know, the County has been in search for a new CEO. It appears they have made an offer. Here’s a recent article regarding the apparent Board of Supervisor selection for the CEO.”
