Subject : Irvine to Host School Safety Town Hall
IRVINE, CA (December 17, 2012): Irvine Mayor Steven S. Choi, Ph.D., has invited the Superintendents of Irvine Unified and Tustin Unified School Districts and the community to a special meeting this week following the tragic school shooting in Newtown, Conn.
Irvine Town Hall Meeting for School Safety will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 19 at the Irvine High School Theater, located at 4321 Walnut Ave.
Mayor Choi will provide an introduction with comments from Terry Walker, Superintendent of Irvine Unified School District, and Dr. Gregory Franklin, Superintendent of Tustin Unified School District representing the Irvine campuses.
Police Chief Dave Maggard will provide an overview of the Public Safety Department’s equipment, training and special assignments with other specifics explained by Lt. Dave Klug with the Irvine Police Department.
There will be time for a question-and-answer period at the end of the meeting.
The program will be taped for airing on ICTV-Channel 30 for Cox subscribers; Channel 99 for U-Verse subscribers; and through the City’s homepage, cityofirvine.org. It will begin airing continuously from 4-10 p.m. Thursday and with regular programming in the following days.
