Do these limo liberals care about our schools? No they don’t!
It turns out that Anaheim City Council candidate Jordan Brandman didn’t break new ground when he decided to publicly support the $158 million hotel bed tax giveaway that his allies, Council Members Gail Eastman, Kris Murray and Harry Sidhu voted for.
For three year in a row, the Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) trustees, including Brandman, voted to defer their developer fees until the Gardenwalk project was complete. That was Brandman’s gift to the Orange County Business council, the Anaheim Chamber of commerce, big developers and SOAR (the Anaheim Resort Political Action Committee).
If the Gardenwalk hotel project runs over $200 + million the school district will end up leaving millions of dollars on the table which could have been used for dilapidated schools that need AC units, field maintenance, painting of schools, new gymnasium wood floors and the list goes on and on. Brandman apparently had foreknowledge that the Gardenwalk hotel project was in the pipeline, which is why the he and his fellow School Board members deferred the developers fees back in December of last year.
The Gardenwalk hotel(s) could take years to start or even complete, the School Distric usually would have received developers fees up front… not now….thanks to Brandman and company.
Now get this,,, a home owner who wants to remodel their home, still has to pay school fees up front, they are not allowed to defer their fees until their project is complete! Talk about a double-standard!
When Anaheim’s voters figure out how badly Brandman has put the screws to them, he is toast! Forget the City Council – his political ambitions will be dashed.
