Nick Anas, the 26-year old Chairman of the Orange County Young Democrats has apparently been hired by the Democratic Party of Orange County to serve as their new Executive Director. Anas, who refers to himself on Facebook as a “Lefty Fascist Socialist Commu-Nazi,” should fit right in at the dysfunctional DPOC.
Anas previously worked for Melahat Rafiei at Progressive Solutions Consulting – and they worked together on the very failed Beth Krom for Congress Campaign, according to Anas’ Facebook page.
That’s Nick on the left
Anas is a recent grad of U.C. Santa Barbara, where he studied political science. He interned with the DPOC from Nov. of 2008 to May of 2009.
Well, good luck to Anas. Hopefully his party can find some money to pay him after they all got the Durkee treatment. The fact that he worked on the Krom campaign should be of help to him as he already knows how to lose big. I expect that will happen a lot this year for the DPOC in Orange County. How they are going to overcome the anchor that is President Obama is a very good question indeed!
Inquiring minds want to know what really happened Shipske. No dough?
No dinero and I think she is running for a legislative seat in Long Beach.
She wasn’t a great hire to begin with.
If the DPOC really wants to win they need to bring in a veteran from Los Angeles. The Dems in that city know how to win. And they know better than to waste resources running for seats in districts that are heavily weighted against them.
Story is inaccurate. Rather than correct it here, I’ll go write an accurate and non-snotty story on Orange Juice. Look for it in a half-hour or so.
All the facts can from Nick’s own Facebook page.
Please don’t write another 10,000 word post!
This is inaccurate: “Nick Anas, the 26-year old Chairman of the Orange County Young Democrats has apparently been hired by the Democratic Party of Orange County to serve as their new Executive Director.”
This is accurate: http://www.orangejuiceblog.com/2012/01/nick-anas-given-jan-contract-at-dpoc-submitted-for-interim-post/
I’d accuse you of a non-sequitur here, but I’m afraid that you’d accuse me of lording knowledge of Latin over you.
(And, just to preempt a pair of comments, here they are:
Art: “I know what a non-sequitur is!”
Greg: I’ll say!)
LOL! The Lib OC reported the story the same way I did. And they too cited Nick’s Facebook page. http://www.theliberaloc.com/2012/01/10/oc-democratic-party-selects-nick-anas-as-new-executive-director/
But I beat you all to the story by an entire day…
Oh, triumph! The Liberal OC is as inaccurate as Pedroza. Thank God for the Orange Juice.
I only know Nick from his great help getting the DPOC to endorse Prop 19 to decriminalize marijuana, a rare ballsy move from the DPOC.
I’m glad they have a young guy with a sense of humor, hope he does well, his work’s cut out for him!
We broke the story a full day before the rest of you yahoos did. We quoted the facts right off of Nick’s blog. If anything it was our post that forced Diamond to get off his ass and post about it too.
I would imagine that Nick’s party bosses will be shutting down any pro-marijuana activities by him now. The folks running the current “Treat Marijuana like Wine” initiative are NOT working with the blue party this time. We learned our lesson last time. We will win and we will do so as Libertarians.
I said that the story was erroneous. I didn’t say that it was your error. I don’t think that it was a terrible error, but it gives the impression that DPOC would hire a permanent executive director without a search, which we didn’t (and I’d say shouldn’t) do. I’ve conveyed my view to him; no problems there. I won’t recount private discussion at the meeting except to say that it was all deservedly friendly and enthusiastic towards Nick himself.
Yeah, you’ll generally beat me to internal DPOC stories, as I don’t blog about private discussions while they remain private.
As I say above: I never said that the error was yours. I understand why Nick would see and describe it that way, but it isn’t quite so.
No, I wrote about this because I saw various posts on Facebook, to which I responded before reading this story or writing my own.
Please do not bind yourself to “Regulate Marijuana Like Wine” (let alone getting the name wrong.) You are not a leader in that movement. It is not partisan — Democratic nor Libertarian — and you only do damage by trying to portray it as such. Ask Judge Gray what he thinks of your slamming Dems here. He’s a smart guy and will probably set you straight. (By the way, LEAP had a pro-RMLW speaker at last week’s DNOC meeting, and Gray spoke at the last DPOC Central Committee meeting, so you truly have no idea what you’re talking about.)
